Winter Wedding in Norway // Malene & Even Andre

January 7, 2016

There is something so amazing about a winter wedding – the white dress combined with snow and details that light up is just magical.
This day  was filled with so much joy and warmth and was such a fairytale that even a crazy snowstorm couldn’t stop it.
Shooting in minus 15 degrees is a challenge that I’ll take again any day when I look at the result, but freezing our fingers and toes was unavoidable. Right before sunset and almost on our way back inside with the couple, the sun pushed through the snowstorm clouds and gave us some incredible light.

The woolen shawl is from Acne, the gloves are from Asos. The pin Malene used for the shawl was a gift her mother received a few years ago.

The bouquet was made by Floriss Fagernes, a local florist. They knew how to combine the finesse of the cold snow with the tenderness of the flowers creating this delicate white and green floral decoration.

In Malene´s words:

“Winter is such a relaxing and romantic season. We had decided upon a winter wedding long before we were really planning a wedding. There is just something about snow that is very cozy and enchanting.
Our vision for the wedding was a combination of an intimate cabin feeling and a magical, Disney-inspired fairytale. I spent countless hours planning all the little details, and in the end I was very happy with how they all came together.
The outdoor ceremony took place high in the Norwegian mountains in February at a location called Danebu Kongsgård. A horse-drawn carriage brought me to where our family and friends had gathered to hear us take our vows. Snow was blowing in the wind and I was wearing the princess gown of my dreams under glittering lights. Afterwards, the white of the snow was contrasted and awash with colorful confetti. Bells rang, sparklers sparkled and music played. All of this combined to make the wedding every bit the romantic and magical fairytale we had dreamed and hoped for.
We love the ethereal look of Sandra’s photos, and we are so very grateful to have had her and her husband Perry there to capture all the amazing memories. Looking back at all the love, laughs, hugs and dancing they shot, it all feels – and looks – like the most wonderful dream. Like a dream it was fleeting, but Sandra’s pictures mean the feeling from that day will stay with us forever.”
