South Tyrol Wedding Photographer

This wedding was absolutely gorgeous.  It took place on a very hot day in June at the incredibly beautiful Prosels Castle in the South Tyrol region of Italy, surrounded by the impressive Dolomite mountains.

After an outside ceremony, the bride and groom and their 100 or so guests made their way up to a large terrace at the top of the castle.  Here they enjoyed the panoramic view of the countryside while nibbling on freshly cut speck, chunks of parmiggiano reggiano, and sipping champagne, before moving inside to a ballroom in the castle for the formal dinner. The Castle has been preserved in its original format and dates back to 1279. The couple wanted to keep the rustic natural feel of the castle and combine it with their finest Italian traditions in a big party that attracted friends from all over the world in a huge international celebration.

The north of Italy captured my heart when Perry and I lived in Milan and we visited the mountains quite a few times.  South Tyrol is an interesting area of Italy that is a mix of German and Italian people, a melting pot for two cultures that seem to have worked it out and united in what could be called a best of both worlds scenario. The German structure & songs with the Italian food and when you combine these two cultures into a wedding you have pure joy with song and dance Tyrolean style and the famous Italian cuisine.

Lenie & Fancesco’s wedding was a true – personal – international yet very Italian wedding and perhaps the best way to sum up this incredible wedding celebration would be by posting a backstage photo of me dancing with one of the guests…
